Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass

(excerpt from the NilssonWeb discussion list.  To learn how to SUBSCRIBE, visit www.harrynilsson.com)

On the first new Tijuana Brass album issued in over 30 years (Lost Treasures) they cover "Wailing of the Willow". Of course Herb Alpert was no stranger to Nilsson's writing. One of my first exposures to Harry's music was Alpert's vocal version of "Without Her", which according to something I read somewhere went to #5 in 1968. The second discovery was Julie London's version of that song (subjected to a gender reversal) "Without Him".
